Today I sent out a newsletter about AI. The ironic thing was that I manually set up my newsletter and then got informed that the merge field wasn't working correctly! Yikes. Had I let my system automate this maybe the error wouldn't have happened. (or can AI make mistakes?)
Using automation and AI in business can be a game-changer, but if not implemented properly, it can cause costly mistakes. Here are some of the most common pitfalls:
1. Lack of Human Oversight
๐น Mistake: Assuming AI can fully replace human decision-making.
๐น Impact: Errors go unnoticed, leading to poor customer experiences or operational failures.
๐น Fix: Keep human checks in place for critical processes.
I guess that AI is "human too" and can make mistakes just like me :)
2. Over-Automation
๐น Mistake: Automating everything without considering exceptions.
๐น Impact: Rigid systems that fail in unique situations, frustrating employees and customers.
๐น Fix: Balance automation with flexibilityโsome tasks require a human touch.
Phew: We are not totally replaceable!
3 Underestimating Customer Reactions
๐น Mistake: Replacing human interaction with chatbots or AI without considering customer preferences.
๐น Impact: Frustrated customers who prefer talking to a real person.
๐น Fix: Offer AI as a support tool but keep human interaction available when needed.
There is nothing worse than going around and around with a Chatbot! Take note Telecommunication companies!
8. Failing to Monitor and Optimise (not spelt with a z)
๐น Mistake: Setting up automation and AI and then forgetting about it.
๐น Impact: Systems become outdated, inefficient, or inaccurate over time.
๐น Fix: Continuously track performance and update AI models regularly.
Have you faced any of these challenges in your business yet? ๐
